About
Silver Fox Sound recording studio was created to fill the need for that comfortable recording home singer/songwriters are looking for. Ample time is spent listening through your pieces together–talking through them to uncover any beneficial adjustments to lyrics, song structure, length, and creative ideas in order to present your songs at their best.
Over the decades I played in several bands, performing both cover, and original songs. The originals were recorded and performed; some seeing radio air-play. In the song-writing phase a make-shift studio worked fine for capturing ideas on an analogue 4-track recorder, but fell short of producing a finished sound.
Various regional studios fit the needs of a full band, but seldom seemed intimate enough for a singer/song-writer. That type of venue can feel stiff, and rushed—lacking one-on-one collaboration for creativity. Not knocking them. It’s a widely used business model.

Testimonial:
Listen, anyone in the world with a checkbook, a credit card, or cash in the bank can build out a room, fill it full of quality equipment and call it a studio but that’s simply not what a “studio” is, even though that seems to be the modern definition. A studio needs a Captain and the Captain at Silver Fox Sound is Robert Fox, and he does a mighty fine job of keeping the ship afloat.
When we began touring studios to cut my new record (“Izzy Miller Sings ‘Extra Bacon’ and Other Chart-Topping Hits”), we started and immediately ended at Silver Fox Sound. At first, a friend and I were producing and we needed a good engineer and a good room. Robert and Silver Fox Sound filled that spot perfectly. Of course, personnel changes happen and any project is going to have unforeseen quirks. It ended with Robert and I co-producing the record and, what seemed disastrous in my mind at first (anxiety, man, I don’t like change or “issues”) with the original production team falling apart, turned into quite possibly the finest working relationship that I’ve ever had.
Robert went above and beyond in every sense of the phrase. There were a lot of late night texts and phone calls, midnight mixes, and me apologizing for being such a pain in the ass. But, at the end of the day, this is the record that I’ve always dreamed of cutting and it had to be 100%. Robert gave 200% at every turn.
His knowledge of his equipment and his musical knowledge both are top-notch. He would call with ideas and sometimes I’d shoot them down (I can be troublesome and hard-headed like that) but, more often than not, I’d give him the go-ahead. It takes a LOT for an artist to trust someone in regards to a project like this, but I never felt that Robert was on the wrong page. He ended up spending days upon days on mixes, he put together a beautiful string arrangement for the closing track and, while I was having a bit of a mental breakdown, handled scheduling and the overseeing of the musicians.
I’m getting a little long-winded here, so I’ll close with this: I grew up dreaming of cutting an excellent country record. I could never find the right groove before and a lot of things came together to make it work, between the writers, the photographer, the grapic designer, the musicians, all of it… But, the one thing that I can say with absolute certainty is that this record could have never been turned into reality without Robert Fox behind the desk, in my phone, and in my head bringing out ideas that I could have never dreamed of.
See, that’s what is lost today. Your friend might have a studio. It might be a great room, it might have the best equipment, it might feel like home, but I’ve been doing this a long time now and I guarantee you that it’s missing one thing, the most important piece of the puzzle, and that’s Robert Fox.

“We recently recorded three singles with Robert Fox at Silver Fox Sound. We couldn’t be happier with our tracks. The entire process was a creative adventure.
This was our first experience recording in a studio. We decided to book an entire day. We had five songs in hand, but we weren’t sure how many we would get through. After working through the first song, we decided three was the right number at our pace.
As each part of each song was recorded, Robert offered suggestions, presented us with options, and provided constructive critiques. On one of our songs, he suggested adding subtle accents on a Nashville-tuned guitar at the second verse to sweeten the sound. On another, he proposed trimming an instrumental sequence between verses to keep the energy of the song from lagging. Trying out ideas like these on the fly turned the session into a genuinely creative process. Those that worked were retained, and those that didn’t were dropped with no
worries.
In the days following the session, Robert sent drafts of the tracks. Through emails back and forth, we settled on the final edits, effects, and mixes. This process was a tremendous time saver for us. We really appreciate the hours and care Robert put into implementing our requests.
Now the tracks have been distributed for streaming. We enjoy having work we are proud of to present to listeners, venue owners, and fellow musicians. We can’t wait until we get another chance to record, and we would happily return to Silver Fox Sound to do so.”

“I recently recorded two songs at Silver Fox Studios, along with four of my highly skilled musician friends. It was my ambitious idea to cram two songs into one day, but Robert Fox (owner/operator) was willing to accommodate that challenge! The recording process stayed fairly well on schedule, even with the time consuming pitfalls of setting up and micing drums, changing out multiple amps, and having to do many repeated takes. The extra takes were due to me kind of throwing these songs together within a month or so, so my collaborators had little time to work out a perfect part.
I can’t imagine how many hours he spent mixing and editing the two songs, with multiple tracks of: electric guitar, acoustic guitar, violin, drums, bass guitar, vocals with harmony parts, etc. This was all included in the price for a day at Silver Fox Studios! That makes the bargain at least twice as sweet! Robert communicated with me very effectively over even the slightest details in volume, tone, effects, stereo balance, and overall blend.

“As a singer/songwriter who had limited experience in a studio, the recording and production process always felt daunting and intimidating to me. Mr. Fox has created the perfect atmosphere at Silver Fox Sound for singer/songwriters to work comfortably and have their songs take shape for the first time with full production.
Mr. Fox has an incredible ear and gives great attentiveness to the vision for your songs. I never felt rushed and Mr. Fox walks alongside you through the whole process to ensure that your creative vision for your songs is carried out to completion. The quality of the production and equipment is top notch and Mr. Fox’s expertise as a musician, sound engineer, and producer shines through in every step of the process.
My time at Silver Fox Sound and collaborating alongside Mr. Fox on my first EP has allowed me to grow as a musician and has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my musical journey so far.”

“I got to know Robert Fox about 5 years ago. We are currently in the final tracking stages of an 8-9 song CD project.
With Mr. Fox you get a guitar player, a musician, a producer, an engineer, a technician, an experienced second opinion, ship captain, and all-around audio yogi.
The studio is very welcoming and has the look and ambience of any major studio. When you see the amount of equipment, you kinda get the feeling of equipment and instrument overload–but there’s a meticulous organization, method, and work-flow to the studio. You get the impression you can create anything in this studio.
I have spent many hours in the Silver Fox Sound studio and have never felt rushed, conversely, and more importantly (especially for musicians on a budget) I never felt I had to wait an unreasonable amount of time for set-up, or to deal with engineering or technical matters.
Sometimes you can feel Mr. Fox actually getting into your head, and that’s a good thing…. He wants to know where you’re going because he’s the one who has to get you there.”
Overall experience with Silver Fox Sound: “Excellent!”

“I have known Robert Fox for 30 plus years.
We have worked on a song I wrote about my realtionship with my husband of 30 years. The song was lovingly dedicated to my husband and our three surviving girls.
Robert is an experienced and seasoned musician. He is gifted with an excellent ear for listening to a song and playing it back verbatim. He has the ability to play with any band in performance, as solo, or play any part that would fit or accompany in part or whole.
He has a special talent for songwriting with lyrics, music, and arrangements. I appreciated his help in making my song all it could be. He has great ideas, and understands and explains the syntax of making a song come to life.
The newly built studio is very clean and has state of the art equipment. The atmosphere is peaceful and calm with an accommodating feel.
I never felt rushed, and appreciated his patience in recording over musical segments and vocals until I was happy with them.
It was a very rewarding experience and I look forward to recording more songs in the future.”
